Inspired by my first thru-hike on the Arizona Trail, this painting honors the quiet resilience of the desert and the iconic saguaro cactus.Saguaros grow slowly and live for centuries, often starting their lives beneath protective “nurse trees.” Their arms may not appear until they are 75 to 100 years old—a powerful metaphor for patience, longevity, and natural wisdom. In this artwork, I honor the cacti I walked among in Arizona: ancient sentinels of the landscape, reaching skyward from sunbaked earth. Painted on a sustainably sourced reclaimed wood panel, this piece carries both ecological and emotional depth, bringing a soulful desert presence into your space.
