Five Iconic Mountains of the Pacific Crest Trail is a tribute to 5 of the highest and most unforgettable peaks along the PCT. In 2024, I set out to thru-hike the trail from Mexico to Canada. But life, as it does, had other plans — between wildfire closures in Oregon and Washington and work commitments back home, my partner Marmot and I made the tough decision to stop after Crater Lake. Still, the journey — nearly three months of walking through California into Oregon — was nothing short of transformative. Living with only what we could carry, moving on foot through wild, ever-changing landscapes, and meeting fellow hikers from around the world brought a deep sense of freedom, connection, and presence. There’s something powerful about walking the earth — it roots you in the moment, connects you to the land, and opens your heart to both nature and the people sharing it. The trail forges bonds — with strangers, with the world around you, and with yourself. This series honors that connection. Each of the five mountains marks not just a physical landmark, but a moment of awe, challenge, and reflection. It’s a homage to the wild places that shape us — and a reminder they’re worth protecting, not just for their beauty, but for how they sustain us.
